In 2019, Riverside Community College District (RCCD) aligned with a private developer to consider the redevelopment of a downtown, city-owned parcel across the street from its District office. The private developer engaged Volz Company to provide strategic planning for the city procurement process. RCCD then engaged The Scion Group with Ann Volz serving as the Project Executive for a student housing feasibility study and financial modeling for all three colleges. Ted Risher led/performed the financial research scope along with Ann. In July of 2022, Volz Company and The Scion Group aligned to work on the grant application submitted in January 2022 for the Intersegmental with UC Riverside. Volz Company was engaged in the Fall of 2022 to provide advisory and project management services for the June grant application and on the planning, design and negotiations of the 1,500 bed student housing on UC Riverside’s campus with 650 affordable beds. This work recently included the procurement of the builder. The design-build project is in design development and is expected to open in August of 2025.
